The United States Football League (USFL) today filed a series of new copyrights with the U.S. courts.
The full list of newly copyrighted names are:
- Austin Wranglers (as well as the term Wranglers)
- Baltimore Stars
- Boston Breakers
- Dallas Stallions
- Denver Gold
- Los Angeles Express
- Oklahoma Outlaws
- Portland Breakers
- San Antonio Gunslingers (as well as the term Gunslingers)
While some of these names could cause concern for fans of current USFL teams, such as the Birmingham Stallions or New Orleans Breakers, it is speculated that many of these copyrights have been placed to preserve historical names. That said, with the league in its second year and with the backing of FOX, expansion seems inevitable and we could see some of these names make their way into the league in the future.
Would you like to see some of these teams in the USFL? Should some of the current teams relocate to the cities listed? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
