Former Champions, Veterans Released in First Round of TKO Roster Cuts

The first round of releases since the TKO merger were announced today, featuring WWE Superstars from both the main roster and NXT. The list includes former champions, long standing veterans and a few surprises, too!

  • Dolph Ziggler
  • Shelton Benjamin
  • Top Dolla
  • Riddick Moss
  • Emma
  • Rick Boogs
  • Elias
  • Aliyah
  • Mustafa Ali

Perhaps the biggest shock amongst these names is the first of the WWE Superstars released. A multi time World Champion and WWE’s resident star maker, Dolph Ziggler hadn’t spent much time on WWE television as of late and had been focussing on other ventures outside of wrestling. Dolph’s brother, Ryan Nemeth, is currently with All Elite Wrestling and teased the potential of reuniting with both him and Dasha Kuret with a photograph on X.

Another head scratcher comes in the form of Mustafa Ali’s release. Ali broke the news himself on social media. When Vince McMahon was in charge of creative a few years ago, Ali had strongly requested his release. In this instance, we are unsure if he specifically requested it or whether it was just part of the wider cuts. Ali had recently been wrestling on NXT and was actually booked in the NXT North American Championship match at NXT’s next premium live event, No Mercy.

After a few hours reprieve, further WWE Superstars were released, mostly from the NXT roster:

  • Quincy Elliott
  • Bryson Montana
  • Dana Brooke
  • Mansoor
  • Mace
  • Dabba-Kato
  • Shanky
  • Yulisa León
  • Daniel McArthur
  • Ikemen Jiro
  • Brooklyn Barlow

While this list of WWE releases is quite substantial already, we expect more Superstars to be released in the coming weeks, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. Stay tuned to JEZ Sports for further updates, as they develop.

Do any of the names released surprise you? Who else do you expect to be cut? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below, or reach out to us on social media, @JEZSports.
