A rare live edition of AEW Rampage for our delectation. Here’s what went down on the November 10th, 2023 show!
Broadcast live from the Oakland Arena, Oakland California, USA
Ricky Starks defeated Preston Vance
Rampage opened with a contest between one half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions, Ricky Starks, and La Faccion Ingobernable’s Preston Vance. Ricky Starks picked up the win via pinfall, able to hit the Spear after Big Bill distracted Preston Vance on the ring apron. Rush and Dralistico made the save when the tag champs tried to continue the beatdown on Vance after the bell.
Like a Nana
Backstage, Renee Paquette interviewed Chris Jericho about his upcoming match with Konosuke Takeshita in Japan. Jericho vowed to get his revenge on ‘baka’ Takeshita on his return to DDT. Next, Lexi Nair interviewed Don Callis and Prince Nana, who announced that Brian Cage has been hired to take Sammy Guevara’s place in the Like a Dragon Street Fight on Dynamite this coming Wednesday.
After a commercial break, Lexi interviewed the Jeff Jarrett stable. Jay Lethal hyped his future ROH World Championship match with Eddie Kingston but was interrupted by Ortiz, who got summarily beaten down by the group.
Red Velvet defeated Ruby Soho
The next matchup saw Ruby Soho take on Red Velvet. Saraya left Ruby Soho on the ramp and she went to the ring alone. Velvet continued her comeback from injury with a good showing against the veteran, almost picking up the win when Soho was delivered flowers in the middle of the match. This distraction put Soho off her game and Red Velvet picked up the win after delivering a spin kick to the face.
Backstage, Saraya confronted Cool Hand Ang about the flowers but Ruby Soho didn’t look too upset to have lost the match. As she looked lovingly at Angelo Parker, Matt Menard and Saraya whisked the lovebirds apart before agreeing that they had big problems.
The Kingdom defeated Los Suavecitos in a squash match
Next up, The Kingdom were in action against some local jobbers talent. On the way to the ring, Roderick Strong took to the mic said it made sense that the Raiders left because Oakland sucks. He dedicating The Kingdom’s match to his ‘best friend’… ADAM! The Kingdom made short work of Los Suavecitos and Roddy jumped into the ring to deliver a backbreaker before, once again, retreating to his wheelchair.
In the interview area, The Kingdom were confronted by Action Andretti and Darius Martin. Roderick Strong shouted at DARIUS! and declared that he would be his first victim. Cryptic.
El Hijo del Vikingo and Komander vs FTR
The main event saw the super lucha team of Komander and El Hijo del Vikingo take on the former AEW World Tag Team Champions, FTR. The high flying pairing of Vikingo and Komander impressed, as they always do, but the Top Guys survived several nearfalls to march to victory with Shatter Machine. As Rampage tried to close, the lights went out and the House of Black were pictured slow clapping at FTR.
